Hello, and thank you for purchasing "An Eggcellent Adventure". A few rules here to help you with your game.

1: DO NOT close the page that contains the game. This will log you out completely and you will be taken back to the start. You can move through the quest by pressing next and previous however do not close the page it is on. You can swap tabs and switch pages with no problems. 

2: You will have to solve a series of clues and puzzles to work through the game. Please note; there are hints you can ask for to give you a nudge what to do however if you are well and truly stuck the downloadable answer sheet with the correct answers was emailed to you on purchase. (Only look if you are in desperate need - no peeking). The answers may be drop down answers, multiple choice or require you to write in a word/letters or numbers. Just make sure to always check the spelling.

3. You can go forward and backwards in between pages so you can check on orientation and where you have been.

4. If you click on an image to open it, it will open in a new tab (if it is required to - some may not). When you are finished with it and want to shut it down just make sure you do not close the original page. You could also just zoom in on the picture instead of opening it. 

5: There is absolutely no time limit, so feel free to pop into any shops or eateries that you want on your way around; sampling the delights that Lancaster has to offer.

More than 1.5 million Cadbury Creme Eggs are produced every day

Another fascinating Easter fact for you, Cadbury’s make 500 million Creme Eggs every year! If you piled them on top of each other, it would be 10 x higher than Mount Everest.

The Birmingham factory produces 1.5 million Creme Eggs every day, and the Creme Egg is the most popular egg-shaped chocolate in the world.

Onto your next location. Turn around and head to Dalton Square. Look to the large monument of Queen Victoria. Can you find the name on it, that is just to the left of FLORENCE NIGHTINGALE?

The world’s largest Easter egg weighs in at 5000lbs

Standing at 31ft tall and 18ft wide is the world’s largest Easter egg. Found in Vegreville, Alberta, Canada, the egg weighs a hefty 5000lbs and took 12,000 hours to complete.

Named the Vegreville Pysanka, the world’s largest Easter egg is actually more of a jigsaw than a sculpture, as it is made from 3500 pieces of aluminium.

From Dalton Square, safely cross the road at the corner of Great John Street, next to the Barbers. When you have crossed, head down Gage Street, and continue onwards to Francis Passage. Take a right onto Penny Street, then left when you reach Market Street.

The UK’s first chocolate egg was produced in Bristol in 1873

Have you ever wondered who started the trend of tucking into chocolate-shaped eggs on Easter Sunday?

It was during the 19^th century that the Fry family of Bristol ran the largest chocolate factory in the world and produced the first chocolate egg, in 1873.

It was two years later in 1875 that saw Cadbury’s make their first Easter egg.

The Bunny knows she has to follow the red and blue lines...but which numbers does she get? (When submitting your answer, just put the two numbers you find next to each other in the answer box!)

In Germany, it is illegal to dance on Good Friday!

On Good Friday, which sees the start of the Easter weekend, it is illegal to dance in public in the majority of states in Germany.

Even Europe’s clubbing capital, Berlin, becomes a dance-free zone out of respect for the religious day.

In Baden-Württemberg, music is allowed to be played but dancing is not allowed, whilst in Bavaria, if you are caught playing music of any kind in a bar, you could be fined up to 10,000 euros.

So why the boogie ban, Germany?

The thinking behind this ban is out of respect for Christians, whom mourn the death of Jesus on Good Friday and Easter Sunday, and in Germany these days are considered to be holidays of silence.

Continue the way you were travelling down New Street until you see the bank at the end of the street, on the crossroads to Church Street.

Looking at the bank...how many stone eyes are staring back at you?

Look to the "Corner" and find a date written in stone on a building. Can you add up all the individual numbers of that date? What number do you get?

Facing away from New Street, turn left onto Church Street then the first left again onto Sun Street. 

You are now searching for some golden people sculpted onto a railing outside a café. Once you have found them....tell me how many arms are at or above shoulder height! You are only looking at the two sections of fencing in the café windows.

In 2007, an Easter egg sold for £9 million.

Possibly the world’s most expensive egg was sold at Christie’s in London for £9 million in 2007, breaking Faberge records.

The enamelled egg contains a multi-coloured cockerel which at every hour pops out of the egg and flaps his wings, before nodding his head three times.

The egg was made by Karl Fabergé in St Petersburg in 1902 and is the second largest egg ever made by Fabergé.

In Norway, it's traditional to read crime stories over Easter weekend

This unusual custom is believed to date back to 1923, when two authors promoted their new crime novel by taking out an advert on the front page of Norwegian newspaper Aftenposten.

The advert was so realistic that many people thought that the book's title - Bergen train looted in the night - was a real headline.

This publicity stunt got national attention, and the novel was a huge success.

Easter Eggs use to have a medieval twist!

Think Easter egg hunts are odd? Listen to this medieval game children's game: The priest would give one of the choir boys a hard boiled egg, and the boys would pass it amongst themselves until the clock struck midnight, when whoever was holding it then got to eat it. Sounds ... fun?

Yes!!! Spot on. Not many to go now.

Follow the path around the Castle clockwise (to the left as you look at it) and follow the path as it goes fully around the castle. 

Follow the path as it heads towards the outer walls, giving you a wonderful view of Lancaster. Find the location in the picture below and look out. 

However...something extra has been added to the picture...can you work out what it is? 

The largest ever Easter egg hunt was in Florida, where 9,753 children searched for 501,000 eggs. Good chances of finding one!!

Excellent team. Now keep walking on the path you were previously on, travelling around the Castle until you find the Priory.

Can you find the plaque on the wall on the side of the priory? And write down the first word of the writing on the plaque!
